Bison Burgers
Summer is around the corner! You know what that means..time to dust off the grill, set the flame on medium and start grilling! For those of you wanting a lean burger, bison is the way to go. Try this recipe and you will start roaming in the open plains for more!
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground bison
1 egg, beaten
1/4 – 1/3 c. Italian bread crumbs
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
1/4 cup minced red pepper
1/4 cup minced onion
Montreal steak seasoning to taste
Cheese slices to taste
I used reduced fat swiss cheese and have used muenster, provolone, gouda, or mixed into the burger fat free feta crumbles or blue cheese.
How to Make:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl except for the Montreal Steak seasoning and sliced cheese. Mix thoroughly. (I use my hands.) Shape mixture into 4 patties and season to taste with steak seasoning. On pre-heated grill, cook bison burgers for approximately 4 minutes, then turn over. Add cheese slices and cook approximately 4 more minutes. DO NOT overcook—bison is extremely lean and is easily overcooked. Enjoy!
